Why Web Standards Are Important
4 reasons why web standards are important and how they can impact your bottom line.
- Accessibility
- Faster Loading times
- Faster Update / Redesign
- It Makes browsers happy
Website accessibility is not just for people who use screen readers. Users are browsing websites with a wide variety of devices today including mobile phones, iphones, ipods, and other hand held devices. Users also have more control with a standards based website - they can increase text size or turn images off without adversely affecting the content of the site. Designing with web standards ensure that that all users can access and browse your website.
Standards based websites tend to load faster. Simply put: Less Code = Faster Loading time which means people are spending less time waiting and more time looking at your site.
This is where web standards will hit your bottom line. Designing with XHTML and CSS separates content from presentation. This means that your site can be updated or redesigned much faster which saves you money
I’m not sure browsers actually have feelings, but I’m sure browsers appreciate nice, clean, organized code.
